Wounded Knee

Description

A fine offwidth established by Bob Boyles in the mid 70s.

About the route, Bob offers the following observations:

“The distance between the good pro is rather far and I'm sure I would have grounded out if I popped out higher up. I always thought the "wounded" knee jam lower down was the crux. That's where you have to pull your knee out where the crack pinches down a bit.”

Location

You can’t miss this obvious, gaping offwidth staring you in the face as you walk to the back of the canyon.

Just a few feet right of the bolts for Pabst Smear.

Protection

Route can be protected by bumping up a #7 camalot. There's at least one place for a #6 camalot partway up the pillar. Reportedly a #4 (blue) big bro can also be useful, if you're into that kind of thing.

Chain anchors recently equipped with the go-ahead from first ascensionist.
