Description
There are 2 cracks rated 5.8 here, this is the left of the two. There are two cracks along this route including an off width and a fist crack. These lead to a manageable roof and then to the same ledge and finish as the adjacent 5.7.
Location
From the parking area near Little Matterhorn, it is about a 2 minute approach. Go past the port-a-john and head north, keeping left. There is a short grassy trail to the left of the boulder that leads to this area. A cairn is near the base of the boulder as well. Small, coin-sized metal placards read the grade of the routes. The basic shape of this area is that of a dihedral.
Protection
BD single rack .4 through 4. If using the off width for protection, it takes a BD 5 and 6 perfectly.
This route is prone to significant rope drag. Take appropriate measures or the top half of the route will be most unpleasant.
