Start low on a good two hand pocket. Move up with right hand and follow about a foot higher with left hand. From here follow the traverse across the rock to the middle section of "Get The Hang of It". Follow the route to the top out.

Foot edges on the light colored rock beneath, RH sloper, LH square sloper above, match, twist to adjacent boulder to the L around using obvious ledges there, use pinches and jugs to get to the top of that boulder; come back down across the back of the first boulder

Start left hand side pull under finger pocket, right hand in right eye of “frowny face”. Can use mono but it’s rough pull. Left foot in bottom crack under side pull. Bump right to three finger pocket, right foot crack under. Semi dyno to good crimp near top, stand into worse crimp above mono. Reach over and top out!

Easy V-0/V-1 depending on what feet you use. Jug haul to the top. Gives a good view of Close Contact and Owen which makes it perfect for getting some "action shots" of those routes. Definitely not set by me since there was chalk already there but if no-one else is gonna claim it, ill give it a name. 

Fun low ball crack traverse. Start matched as low as possible in the crack and then work your way up and right.

Start on the boulder called "the Lips" in the yellow pamphlet given by the gift shop. Hands start on the bottom lips, and go up and slightly left.

One move wonder. Start matched on the flat ledge and use the good foot to dyno up to the sloper. Match and go to the top. A bit contrived due to the crack out to the left being off, but a fun climb regardless.

Probably done before, but a fun little problem I put up while passing through Kansas. Start left of Eye sockets with your right hand in the left socket and a heel hook. Move up to a horizontal slot and then up through underclings to top out. Crux is not dabbing since you start real low. 

Start with the opposing side pulls. Top out making the best of the slopers and/or pinches that recede toward the top of the spherical boulder.

 Note: I do not claim to be the "developer" of this route. It looks pretty straightforward, even aside from the chalk marks left from previous climbers on the side pulls and jugs. I am only posting this description for two reasons: so that others will be on the look out for this fun route and so that others can add their opinions about its difficulty/rating/etc.

Steepest climb at Rock City? Start sitting under the short over hang, left hand on a small crimp and right hand on a sloper. Throw a right heel and make a hard move to a jug. Top out. Very low ball, but a fun, challenging move.

I do not take credit for these routes, I just want to catalog routes so it feels more established here. These two routes have chalk on some holds that someone stronger than me could probably pull off. Difficult feet if you don't use the pedestal these rocks sit on so definitely a cool project to work on. I didn't see any official routes for either of these just some unknowns on the map in the page gallery but ill probably name them later if I can ever nab the ascent. 

To the L of 'Unknown' route on same boulder. Starting low, smear and match on large jug, then jump to large pocket on top with RH; left heel hook on a ledge, then use the first jug to top out. Get down from the R side of the boulder or jump off

so named for "Owen" scrawled into the boulder near the start.

Star your feet on a small crack beneath the mouth bring your left leg up try and get your foot into the eye on the right and step up and top out

Start low at the base, LH jug in large crack, match, RH sidepull in same crack, RH sloper at the intersection of the three cracks, LH crimp on a very small knob above, then use obvious jugs and ledges and top out; come down from the other side of the boulder (in part using the adjacent one).

This problem is on one of the larger boulders that are clustered together away from the main parking area. 

  This route starts maybe twenty feet to the right of "Close Contact.". Find an obvious zig zagging crack on the face of this boulder and move maybe seven feet to the right of that crack. The problem ascends the boulder on crimps. The white/grey shelf below the boulder is off.

Collection of about 200 sandstone concretions just outside of Minneapolis, Kansas. Bouldering only.If you are looking for some of the best bouldering Kansas has to offer, this is it. While it might not look like much, the 15 to 20 foot boulders offer quality routes with room to grow.Currently, there are not that many "official" routes that have pictures and a first ascent, but following chalk hand placements up the wall should provide enough direction to add to the collection. The rock is quality sandstone and the risk of pulling off pieces on the established routes is not a problem that other locations in Kansas have (example: limestone at cliff drive). Plants and lichen are growing around some of the hand and foot placements but depending on the route, its not a problem. Overall, this is a nice place for midwesterners to get their climbing fix satiated and is definitely worth checking out.
