Cool lip traverse with deceptively difficult mantles.

Sit Start

: The sit start finally went and is ~V6. Start with left hand on a crimp and right hand awkwardly pinching next to it. A tough  dynamic first move leads to some rad sequences to get into the easier (but still no gimme) top. The sit might earn an extra star because its so gosh darn fun. Could also link the sit into either (

) or (

mountainproject.com/route/1…

) which would probably be solid V7 and are undone.

Another Mount Woodson Mantle! Significantly harder than it looks, start on the obvious rail and mantle straight up/left. The overhang gets your lower body stuck under the roof which is why it feels so hard. Finally found a small crystal / xeno which turned out to be absolutely pivotal.

Some finesse required. Friction feet and a couple chips. Jam in flare and use tips in tight crack, following the seam up and left to a good hold, to get to the arete and then easy climbing to the top. Crux is low.

Face to the right of 49th street proper. Match hands near the top and friction.

This is a beautiful clean friction line up the center of a sail-like rock. Hard move at the top

Some very technical arete moves get you up this small but very fun problem. Sit start with what is reachable. and make 2 or three delicate moves till you can finally latch the opposing crimp on the lip.

Stand Start matched on seam/crack at head height, bring up right foot on small edge and lock off left arm and move right hand to sloper/intermediate then to slopping crimp. Left hand move to sloper then again to a better crimp. Work the edges and mantle out!

Note: the original line Flight of the Ox started higher on two crimps. But at some point the right hand crimp was broke off, leaving only a left hand crimp. In the photo the red line is the original line, the 'x' is where the broken start hold was.

Also harder than it looks, start on the flat sloper on the center of the lip and mantle straight up. Funky body position to help get yourself out from under the roof.

Sit start left hand on the arete and right hand on a low opposing hold. Pull a hard first move to get to some easier arete climbing.
