Description
[Edit]Not so big, but thoughtful routes including an interesting roof. Most routes around 45 ft tall, facing SouthWest.
Cool weather days nice in afternoon due to favorable exposure. Much is shaded by mature trees, so not as hot as might expect on hot afternoons. Summer non-dry periods might have more insects because of standing water near base
Top-Roping: Reaching the top of this cliff might be tricky or difficult. Could do a Trad lead of the route "Right FIns". Or perhaps could scramble up around the right side (slopy slippery, tricky navigation) - (difficulty low-5th-class or at least 4th-class). Or could hike/scramble up to sector Krauss, then SouthWest past the "aiguille" top of sector NJRG, then somehow find your way down through smaller cliffs and steep slippery grass/dirt/leaves -- likely a rappel will make it safer.
Name: Michael Steele pioneered many new routes in western New Jersey. He wrote the first guidebook for Delaware Water Gap, and contributed to the Nick + Sloane print guidebook.
warning: Loose rock is still a concern in this sector. Belayer or other members of party should not stand anywhere near underneath the climber or underneath a leader setting up top anchor.
. . . (Lots of vegetation on this rock as of 2018. Be prepared when climbing to navigate around protruding trees and branches, and dealing with holds slippery with grass, lichen, moss, dirt).
