4. the Monkey Cliff (& Gorilla Pile)

Presently home to about a half-dozen climbs from 5.8 to 5.10a, this cliff sits high on the ridge and is supposed to look like a monkey's head from some angles.

According to Jon, the "routes here are very alpine [read:"can be mossy and/or a bit loose"] with some being bold and ...run out." Plus,it's quite a ways "out there" (40-60 min. from the road) so please don't screw up if climbing there.

This area was subject of a forest fire in the autumn of 2017. You may encounter charred trees and BEWARE OF NYLON RAP ANCHORS ON TREES and BOLTS. The prudent will replace!.
